Recovery words are for the wallet app, not websites
Restoring a self-custody wallet usually means entering recovery words into a legitimate wallet app on a device you control. It does not mean pasting them into a website, chat window, support ticket, browser extension, or remote session.
Before restoring, make sure your device is updated, the wallet app came from a verified source, and no one is watching your screen.
A restore phrase is not proof for support. It is the wallet.
New device
Prepare the environment first
Check that you are using a clean network, trusted device, and verified app source. Disable screen sharing and be careful with clipboard managers. If you wrote recovery words on paper, handle them away from cameras.
After restore, confirm addresses and balances calmly. Network synchronization can take time, especially for privacy-focused coins.
If something feels wrong
Stop before trying more fixes
Repeatedly entering recovery words into different pages or tools compounds risk. If a restore attempt looks suspicious, stop, disconnect, and verify the correct process through official documentation.
